Japan: Owl Cafe

owlcafe (5 of 14)

On my first trip to Japan (2012), I visited a Cat cafe in Osaka.  It was a really great experience, so this time around (2015), I decided to visit an owl cafe in Shinjuku, Tokyo.   For ~1500 yen ($13 USD) you get a drink and an hour to hang out with ~8 owls.  You’re allowed to pet them gently on their head or their backs.  Here are some friendly and not so friendly looking birds I met:

Hungry Cactus’ verdict: B+ Even though I had a great time taking pictures with the owls (I mean, where else can you do this??), I’m not 100% sure the owls liked the attention and bright lights in the cafe.  I would definitely do this at least once though.
