NY2007 – Part 1

Destination: New York/New Jersey
Duration: 4 days
Travel buddies: Mike, Tessa, Alex & Gary

Lunch at the famous Peter Luger’s — aka gangsta operated restaurant. Give yer respect to the main man. Booyakasha!

Unfortunately the excitement fizzled off when we found out their main chef had some family emergency — all their daily lunch specials were unavailable! =( We could only order from the dinner menu…boo!

Overall the meal was subpar, nothing exceptionally memorable, paid way too much. Disappointed.

Hungry Cactus’ final verdict for Peter Luger: C+ (isolated score)
Note: Given such a low rating this time, everyone still should go to Peter Luger’s at least once for dinner…the food was much better last time I went (would have given it an A-). If you go at night, the dark streets will look like a classic mob movie scene. =)

When I first walked into the store, I immediately felt the sunshine in the cupcakes and puddings. Shining at me were these cupcake flavors:

Sunshine: Yellow cake with vanilla buttercream
Bob: Yellow cake with chocolate almond buttercream
Ooey Gooey: Chocolate cake with chocolate almond buttercream
Sexy Red Velvet: Red velvet cake with âEURoeThe MooseâEUR
Sassy Red Velvet: Red Velvet cake with chocolate almond buttercream
Black & White…Just Right: Chocolate cake with vanilla buttercream
Pistachio: Pistachio cake with âEURoeThe MooseâEUR
Pumpkin: Pumpkin cake with cream cheese icing
Lemon Yummy: Lemon cake with lemon buttercream
Coconut: Coconut cake with meringue

The Lemon Yummy was simply made for me — light in flavor and volume! Soooooo tangy, yet extremely light…it could easily have been named Lemon Dreamy. Hmmmmmmmm! Another one of my favorites was the Banana Pudding — fresh and moist banana pudding! I’ve never had such a good pudding! Simply wonderful after a meal or just for a snack. Oh, Alex got the Piggy Pudding… oink oink!! =)
